Tomorrow, December 15, marks one year since we moved into our wonderful little house on 4th Street. I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone by and how many memories we have in this house. We had our first out-of-town visitor arrive, Nate’s dad, a mere eight days after we moved in, and just in time for Christmas! Then, a few days later, Am, Aaron and Miles arrived to celebrate New Year’s. Gran and Pop braved the frigid and rainy January weather and we celebrated Gran’s birthday with a delicious dinner in our new digs. The big event came in April – wedding time! And we certainly had a houseful for the festivities that weekend. Not only has our house played “hostess” to out of town guests, but we’ve enjoyed dinners and get-togethers with our Metroplex friends as well as my parents.
In the first month we lived in the house, I locked myself out on two separate occasions, while Riley watched from inside. We (mostly Nate) have learned how to take care of a yard in TX, which has very different plants and living things than we’re used to, coming from the desert of NM. We were eaten alive on various nights this summer while sitting on the patio. This summer and into late fall, Nate grilled many delicious meats and veggies on our back patio. Riley chased many squirrels and cornered them in various trees all year long. We have thoroughly enjoyed our big kitchen and its ample storage and counter space. I saw one of my childhood “dreams” come true when this house came with a vanity space just for me in the master bathroom! We have a master bedroom closet that can accommodate all of Nate’s clothes, and then some, with a built-in space perfect for our boots. We’ve watched four other homes be built next to or across from ours, and can say with pride that ours is still the cutest one on the block. We’ve now decorated it for Christmas, twice! There are so many memories yet to come and I look forward to each and every one.
