2010 Year in Review: Part Two

July

We celebrated America’s Independence Day with brunch at our favorite outdoor spot: Joe T. Garcia’s. Later in the evening we headed to the Clogg’s neighborhood for a July 4th parade. We viewed fireworks from atop a parking garage in downtown Fort Worth, with a view of the entire city and half a dozen spectacular light shows. On July 14 Abby took her very first steps!

August

This was a month with many visitors! Amber, Aaron and Gavin came to visit us at the end of the month; we’re so thankful to have the largest Volvo dealership in the country in DFW – makes for a good excuse for visitors! My sister came to TX to celebrate my mom’s birthday and also do some swimming at my parents’ neighborhood pool. Abby logged some good time in the kiddie pool as well as the big pool. Nate’s friend Brandon also breezed in for a quick trip.

September

Over Labor Day weekend, Abby took her 5th trip (3rd via car) to Albuquerque to help celebrate Papa’s 80th birthday. Mid-month, we trekked to Seattle to meet 25+ members of my mom’s family for Abby and Nate’s first Nebraska Huskers football game versus the Washington Huskies! Later in the month, Gigi came for another visit and we showed her what real Dallas shopping is all about.

October

The beginning of the month began with a trip to Long Beach, CA, for my cousin’s wedding and a mini family reunion on my Dad’s side. Abby charmed everyone with her fancy party dress and dance floor moves. The Walters family capitalized on our short time in SoCal with a day-trip to Disneyland (mine and Abby’s first visit, and Nate’s second). I don’t know who enjoyed it more, me or Abby! But, she did get to meet Tinkerbell and ride It’s A Small World (she still sings the song often). Halloween marked my 30th birthday and we had visitors – Granny and Papa! They baby-sat our little owl and Nate took me to an excellent dinner at our favorite FW spot: Lanny’s.

November

Mid-month, we took our first road trip in Texas (shocking after living here 5 years) to Houston and met my parents there. My aunt and uncle have a house on Lake Conroe and we hung out, watched a disappointing Huskers game, and ate lots of food. We spent Thanksgiving Day at my parents’ house, and my sister and Tom visited. The next day we Walters’ hosted another Thanksgiving dinner for our friends Ted and Nancy. We love holiday food!

December

We spent the first weekend of the month decorating our little house for Christmas – our 5th time doing so! I went to the Bid 12 Championship Game in Dallas with many family members, and had fun for the first half – ha! We had fun opening early Christmas gifts with the Cloggs and their little kiddos (Abby’s best friends Avery and Charlie, plus the very new Caroline)! For Christmas we drove to NM (our 3rd trip in 2010!) and Abby enjoyed meeting Santa Claus, lighting luminarias, playing with her cousins Miles and Gavin, and eating lots of cookies. Oh, and she opened a few presents, too. We came back to FW and had a fondue Christmas with my parents, sis and bro-in-law. We’ll have a little Walters New Year in our cozy home; Nate and I will enjoy some Champagne we’ve cellared, and then it’s goodbye to 2010!

Praise God for a wonderful, healthy, happy year! Here’s to a spectacular 2011!
